Acrylic., Oil. Gold Leaf. Mixed Media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang. Signed on the front.
This is actually a portrait of my daughter who had Skyped during her travels. She was cold and wore a head scarf to keep warm. As we chatted I couldn’t help but imagine her like this. As though her image insisted on the transformation. I thought about how Rumi said, “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do”. after our chat I took to the canvas to let the image out. I’m sure she is a muse. I used an acrylic base working intuitively in impasto. I layered a traditional paint style over the base layer but left it bright and then added gold leaf. It is varnished with meroger.
